Um, it seems to me that many people working at MTV probably have pretty extensive, even encyclopedic knowledge of many genres of music. It's their job, it's what they do all day long. And the people who make AMP probably listen to a couple of thousand electronic music records and cds every year. These guys aren't rock people who are "cashing in on the electronica craze". MTV's top people (who are probably still into Springsteen) hired *other people* to make amp, and the people they hired were people just like us, people who have loved electronic music for many years. Just becasue the mass media is stupid doesn't mean that the people who make it are stupid. In fact, they are often very smart, very well-informed, very cool people who like weilding power. Unfortunately, they have bosses who tell them to make sure thay "play radio-freindly stuff" or "don't show the nude videos" and that kind of thing. I'd betcha most of the people on this list would drop everything and come-a-running if they were offered a electronic music related job working at MTV. -CF

I get to be one of the first 5 or so people on the planet to see what another world looks like. In 3-D, even. You've *got* to be kidding me ... - Greg (Who has just finished his 15th straight day at work supporting MPF) P.S. OK, so you *did* say "most of the people" ...

While we're on the subject of AMP has anyone noticed the large number of artists from the Liquid Sky & Asphodel labels shown (or I may be imagining this)? I think there may be a somewhat of a bias to NYC based musicians, maybe because this is where the show is produced. While I tend to like most of the Asphodel artists Liquid Sky tends to put out more homogenized acts. Either way I may be way off base on all of this considering I tend to watch this show in the wee hours of the morning... Something to ponder or not... Ross ;-)
